QUESTION:
My friend is relapsing from anorexia. She is strongly denying it. I am scared. Please help me and help me to help her. What do I need to do? Please respond ASAP.

ANSWER:
Uncle Sigmund certainly understands how concerned you are about your friend who is anorexic. Talk with her about what she is doing and let her know you are concerned and want her to get help. You might offer to walk with her to the Counseling Center. If your friend denies there is a problem, even though you are aware of it, you may need to get others involved to help her seek treatment, such as her RA, other friends, her boyfriend, or her parents. You may need some support in dealing with your friend, so don’t hesitate to get that support from others or from a counselor.

Good luck,

Uncle Sigmund

QUESTION:
Dear Uncle Sigmund,
I have been living with the same roommate for the last two years and she has always been pretty open about her history with anorexia. When I met her she was doing fine with it and food didn’t seem to be an issue. BUT, in the last couple of months, she’s lost a lot of weight, tries to hide it by wearing big, baggy clothes, and gets really offended if I make any comments or ask any questions. She seems to be in total denial. What should I do?

HELP!
